The crop nutrient balance—comparing the amounts of nutrients applied to cropland in relation to those removed by crops–is an important indicator of the sustainability performance of crop production.

Nitrogen removed in harvested crops in Canada, 1962-2022. Based on Statistics Canada crop production data, and crop removal coefficients from IPNI and other sources.
Phosphorus removed in harvested crops in Canada, 1962-2022. Based on Statistics Canada crop production data, and crop removal coefficients from IPNI and other sources.
